Packing List

Here is just some of the things we took with us to China:

General Items:

Copies of your three most recent federal tax returns.
Apply for visa by completing visa application forms with photos.  Mail your passport and visa fees to your state's Chinese Consulate.
Money for orphanage donation, China legal fees, and Medical Exam in Guangzhou, China.
Small gifts to some of the officials, orphanage director, foster family.

For the Child:

Formula and bottles.
Thermos for carrying hot water, and plastic bottle for carrying cold boiled water.
Rice cereal, little jars of baby food.
Disposable diapers, changing pad, travel baby wipes, Desitin, Vaseline, baby thermometer, liquid Tylenol, fingernail clipper, comb and brush, pacifiers, Q-tips, spit-up cloths.
Snugli or other front or hip "sling" baby carrier.
Five outfits plus sleepwear, plenty of layers for colder temperatures.  A hat to protect against sun or cold.
Two receiving blankets, liquid baby soap and shampoo, diaper bag.
Several toys, some of which you may decide to give to the orphanage.

For Parents:

Two pairs of pants (wear one).
One nice outfit.
Casual tops (wear one).
Sleepwear / underwear.
Poncho.  For colder months, bring scarf, gloves, thermal underwear, outer layers.
Woolite and length of clothesline.
Sample sizes of shampoo/toothpaste/shaving cream/travel toothbrush/dental floss/comb/razor/deodorant/travel soap/washcloth.
Pepto-bismol/anti-diarrhea medicine/aspirin/motion sickness/mild sleeping formula/tissues and wash n' wipes.
A Swiss army knife, a collapsible umbrella, a dual current hair dryer.
Electrical adapters.
Mini office supplies a few paper clips, a small stapler, black pen for fax message, big envelopes, rubber bands, scotch tape.
Waist money belt or pouch.
A major credit card.
Copies of all documents which were sent in your dossier -- just in case.  Plus any forms which might have been sent to you from the Guangzhou Consulate.
Guidebook.
Film.
Snacks such as crackers, candy, dried soups, or instant drinks.
